Zoey Lynn Reams, age 10, just shy of her 11th birthday, was a beautiful, passionate, sweet, and
wonderfully sassy soul whose presence brought light and joy to everyone she met. Zoey passed
away on August 6, 2026, in Houston, Texas.
Zoey had recently moved with her family to Cypress, Texas, to receive a bone marrow
transplant following a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Throughout her journey, she
remained deeply loved and surrounded by the devotion of her family. She was the beloved
daughter of Mark and Callie Reams and the cherished sister of Michael Reams.
Zoey had a bright, creative spirit and loved all things pink, pretty, and girly. She loved to sing,
and her favorite song, “Porch Swing Angel,” held a special place in her heart. She expressed
her imagination through art and loved to create. She enjoyed swimming, getting lost in a good
book, and spending time with the people she loved most.
Zoey also loved to cook, especially pasta and lasagna. Whether she was creating something in
the kitchen, making art, singing, swimming, or simply being with her family, Zoey brought her
own unmistakable personality to everything she did.
Zoey had an enormous heart for animals and loved them all, but her dog, Chuck, held an
especially precious place in her heart. The bond they shared was one of those special kinds of
love that needs no words. Chuck was more than a pet to Zoey—he was her companion, her
comfort, and a beloved part of her family.
Zoey was passionate and sweet, with just the right amount of sass. She always seemed to have
a perfectly timed, sassy, humbling comment ready—often leaving everyone around her laughing
and reminding them that Zoey was going to tell it exactly as she saw it. It was part of the charm
that endeared her to so many people. She was spirited, loving, funny, and unapologetically
herself.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Zoey will remember that spark. She had a way of
making an impression that could not be forgotten. Her sweetness drew people to her, her sass
made them smile, and her strength and passion inspired those around her. She carried a
special light within her, and that light will continue to shine in the lives of everyone who loved
her.
Zoey leaves behind her loving parents, Mark and Callie Reams; her brother, Michael Reams;
her Mammy, Lenea Weatherford; her grandparents Papa Bear and Ta-Ta, Dean and Sadie
Reams; her Auntie, Brandi Ballard; her aunt and uncle, Matthew and Leah Weatherford; her
cousins, Cordan Ballard and his wife, Shea Ballard, Caden Ballard, and Elleanor Weatherford;
as well as extended family and friends whose lives were made brighter simply because Zoey
was part of them.
Zoey was preceded in death by her beloved Uncle “Big Guy,” Brent Ballard, and her
great-grandparents, Henrietta and Ralph Johnson.
Ten years could never have been enough time with Zoey. Yet the impact of her life cannot be
measured by its length. It is measured in the love she gave, the laughter she created, the
people she touched, and the memories that her family will carry with them for the rest of their
lives.
Zoey will live on in the songs that bring back the sound of her voice, in splashes of pink, in
beautiful pieces of art, in favorite books, in days spent by the water, in the smell of pasta and
lasagna cooking in the kitchen, in the animals she adored, and in those perfectly timed sassy
comments that will forever make her family smile when they think of what Zoey would have said.
She will be remembered for her courage, but her illness will never define the beautiful life she
lived. Zoey was so much more. She was a daughter. A sister. A granddaughter. A niece. A
cousin. A friend. An artist, a singer, a reader, a cook, an animal lover, and a girl who loved
fiercely and lived with spirit.
Zoey Lynn Reams was deeply loved, fiercely cherished, and will be endlessly missed. Her
family will carry her sweetness, her sass, her courage, and her beautiful light with them always.
Forever 10. Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever our Zoey.
