Wynona L. Payte, 75, of Burleson, formerly of Big Spring, died Friday, February 19, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, February 22, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.She was born July 13, 1940 in Dimmitt, Texas and married Wendel Thomas Payte June 2, 1958 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death January 7, 2008.Wynona graduated from Big Spring High School in 1958 and attended Howard College. She worked at Howard College for 20 years and retired as the secretary to the president. She moved to Burleson in 2013.She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed to read, quilt, cross stitch, crochet, to play computer games and to bowl. Wynona was a longtime member of the Birdwell Lane Church of Christ and more recently was a member of the 14th and Main Church of Christ.Survivors include three daughters, Wendy Horton of The Colony, Wakenda Dunlap and husband, Gerald of Big Spring, and Wylene Landrum and husband, Jay of Burleson; one son, Whitney Payte and wife, Brenda of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by parents, H.
