Woodie S. Caffey, 86, of Stanton passed away Wednesday evening, March 3, 2021 at Manor Park in Midland. He was born on August 22, 1934, in Jones County, TX, to H.R. and Daisy Caffey. He was a graduate of Knott High School.
Woodie married Darlene Bristow of Ackerly on February 20, 1955, in Ackerly. They lived near Stanton from 1956 to 1969 where he farmed and ranched. He and his family moved to Alpine in 1969 where he and his wife pursued their college degrees. Woodie completed both his Bachelors and Masters degrees at Sul Ross University before beginning a new career as a teacher and coach. He taught and coached in schools in Texas and Oklahoma before retiring and moving back to Stanton.
He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene; his parents H.R. and Daisy Caffey; a brother Ralph Caffey; and a sister Noma Winton.
He is survived by his six children: son Lynn Caffey of Fairfield; daughters Darla Prosise of Stanton; Jana Randles of Stanton; Ronna Frusher and husband Russell of Hanston, KS; son David Caffey and wife Shannon of Seminole; son Jason Caffey and wife Nicole of Cibolo; as well as 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanton.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Stanton at 2:00 pm on March 20, 2021.
