Winston Fontenot, 81, of Midland, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2008, in Midland. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Midland with Dr. Gary Dyer, Rev. David Johnson and Hank Henry, officiating.Winston was born on March 1, 1926, in Ville Platte, Louisiana to Ethel and Laurent Fontenot. He married Robin Newton on October 19, 1974 in Lafayette, Louisiana.Winston served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. He attended Southwestern Louisiana Institute and Tulane University Law School. He moved to Midland in 1984 from Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a member of the state bar of Louisiana, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and American College of Trial Lawyers. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Midland.Survivors include wife, Robin of Midland; son, John Winston Fontenot, Jr. of Denver, Colorado; daughter, Kathleen Fontenot Drew of New Orleans; daughter, Geraldine Elise Roberts of Baton Rouge; son, Philip Andre Fontenot of Lafayette, Louisiana; daughter, Toni Osborne of Fort Worth; and daughter, Christy Watson of Cottageville, West Virginia.He was preceded in death by his stepson, Tho Dillenkoffer.Memorials can be made to Home Hospice, 901 W Missouri Avenue, Midland, TX 79701 or First Baptist Building Fund, 2104 W Louisiana Avenue, Midland, TX 79701.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
