Winston Eugene Kilpatrick, 79, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Friday, July 12, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Ring, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park. He was born on April 20, 1923 in Crosby County, Texas and married Eris Denton on October 7, 1942 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on March 12, 2001. He worked as a mechanic for Clyde Denton's John Deere Implement Co. during the 1940's. Mr. Kilpatrick loved to farm and was very good at it and farmed all his life. He farmed in the Richland Community where he and Eris made their home until 1983. He continued to have farm interest after moving to Big Spring where he resided until his death. He loved antique tractors and motorcycles. He was a generous and true gentleman who loved people. Mr. Kilpatrick was a member of First United Methodist Church for 65 years. He loved his church and was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He served on the Administrative Council, the Board of Trustees and numerous other committees of the church. Mr. Kilpatrick also served on the board for Hamlin Cotton Oil Mill, the Lubbock Cotton Oil Mill, Howard County CO-OP Gin and was a long time member of Howard County Farm Bureau. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Evelyn and J. C. Burchett and Joyce and Carroll Choate all of Big Spring and Dealva Patton of Fredericksburg; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Crickette Denton of LeClaire, Iowa; a nephew, Mark Denton and wife, Tonya of Dallas and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Addie Kilpatrick; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Doris and Sid Yates, Nell and Harliss Dent and Ulysses Hall. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Yates, Marvin Hall, Dusty Choate, Putt Choate, Mark Denton, Shane Forrest, Joel Jennings and Craig Graves. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class at First United Methodist Church, Tommy Churchwell and Bill Jennings. The family suggests memorials to: First United Methodist Church, 400 Scurry, Big Spring, Texas 79720. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Thursday at 709 Avondale.
