Winnifred Kennemur, 81, of Big Spring, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 7pm Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11am Friday, March 15, 2024 at Trinity Memorial Park.
She was born December 30, 1942, in Clovis, New Mexico to Ira E. & Lillie Beatrice (Hill) Norell. Her mother told her “That day she had washed clothes on a rub board all day during a blue norther – it was as cold as it could get.” She grew up in Big Spring, attending Big Spring schools and graduated in 1961. She married her sweetheart, John Harvey Kennemur on June 24, 1961, in Big Spring. She was a housewife and devoted mother to John Nathan and Paul Edwin, following them in all their activities. She was a member and children’s Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Big Spring. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling with her family.
Survivors include her sons: John (Cindy) Kennemur and Paul Kennemur; four grandsons Quinton, Toby (Bailee) and Kendrik, all of Big Spring, and Brent Sisson and family of Anchorage, Alaska; one Brother Tommy Norrell of Austin.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2022, her parents, her three sisters and two brothers and her daughter-in-law, Monika Kennemur.
