Winfred Roland "Rick" Campbell passed away in Big Spring, Texas, following a lengthy illness. He was born August 11, 1923, to Mayme Little and Dewey Campbell in Ballinger, Texas. He married Lucile Ann Kiechle on January 17, 1947 in San Angelo and moved to Big Spring in 1951. After getting honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, he worked for the F.A.A. for several years. After that, he went to work for Webb Air Force Base where he was the foreman of the avionics shop until he retired in 1976. After Winfred's retirement, he acquired his real estate broker's license and was known by many members of the community through his real estate work. Winfred had a strong Christian faith and was a member of the First Christian Church of Big Spring. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather with priorities always focused on family and community. His grandchildren fondly called him "Papa" after his own grandfather. He enjoyed yardwork, fiddling in the garage, cooking out in the backyard, and growing prize winning Texas pecans. Winfred was preceded in death by Lucile Ann, his wife of 61 years. He is survived by two sons, Charles Richard (Rick) of Houston and Jason Dewey of Sand Springs; two daughters, Jan Bynum of Dallas and Betsy Rutledge of Houston; four grandsons, Richard Campbell serving in the Navy, Thomas Campbell of Houston, Kory Rutledge and Kurt Rutledge of Houston; three granddaughters, Susan English of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kelli Cox of Dallas, and Kara Rutledge of Houston; three great granddaughters, Alexis Bynum of Dallas, Elizabeth English of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Kylah Nelson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Willadene Varnadore of San Angelo, and one nephew, Mike Varnadore of San Angelo. Graveside services will be held at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park on Friday, September 19th at 2:00 pm in Big Spring, Texas, with Rev.
