Wilma Nell Cathey Barrington passed from this earthly life Saturday, October 13, 2007. Wilma Nell was born on May 15, 1925 in Lenorah, TX. She graduated from Stanton High School. She married James Elvis Barrington on March 7, 1946. They moved to Midland in 1952.She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, her parents, George & Lillie Shackleford Cathey, brothers Friou and Luke Cathey; sisters Lurline Gregg, Betty Jo White and Billie Jean.Wilma Nell is survived by sons, James Barrington, Jr. of Denton, Gary Barrington of Goodlettsville, TN, Troy Barrington and wife Martha of Lawn, TX; daughters Cathie Barrington of Grand Prairie and Deborah Stephens and husband Audie of Midland; 12 grandchildren; her brother, Wesley Cathey and wife Maye of Boerne, TX, sister-in-law Susan Cathey of Abilene, TX, sister-in-law Ruby Mariner of Amarillo, brother-in-law, Tillman Barrington and wife Belva of Belton and many loving nieces and nephews.Wilma Nell was a devoted mother, and actively supported her husband in his ministry and volunteer activities. Wilma was a faithful member of the Midland Primitive Baptist Church. Along with her husband, she helped establish the Harmony Plains Singing School and served for 32 years as office manager, newsletter editor and printer, made loads of cookies and served joyously wherever she was needed. She was a supporter, member and officer of the Lioness 500 club, a division of the West Side Lions Club. She was a volunteer on the Shepherd's Staff at Midland Memorial Hospital and gave numerous volunteer hours to Midland Public Schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local nursing homes and Midland Association for Retarded Citizens. The family wishes to thank the employees and volunteers of both Home Hospice and Mabee Health Care for the loving care of their mother.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at the Midland Primitive Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Midland. The family will receive friends at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N.
