Willie T. McDaniel, 85, of Big Spring, Texas, died on Wednesday, October 29, 2003, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, October 31, 2003 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Dave Ring, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. He was born on April 22, 1918, in Denton County, Texas and married Oneta Chapman on January 19, 1952 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Willie was a lifetime resident of Big Spring. He had worked for Planters Gin, Farmers Gin and the Coop Gin, before going to work in the maintenance department of the Big Spring Independent School District in 1966, retiring in 1984. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Oneta McDaniel of Big Spring; one daughter and son-in-law, Temple and Gary Burt of Big Spring; one sister, Tressie Goolsby of Brownwood; one granddaughter and her husband, Jaye J. and Jimmy Roper of Big Spring; and four great grandchildren, Dylan, Colton, Alstion and Jimmy Jr. Roper all of Big Spring. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roy G. McDaniel; and three sisters, Ora Thixton, Pearl Hamilton, and Oma Coots.
