Willie Opal Barber

Willie Opal Barber, 91, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at her residence in Coahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Herb McPherson, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born on June 24, 1912, in Lillian, Texas, to W. H. and Fannie Haney. She married Glenn Barber on January 31, 1931, in Vincent, Texas. He preceded her in death in August 1984. Glenn and Opal made their home in Vealmoor before moving to Big Spring. Opal or "Granny Barber" was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.Survivors include her grandson and his wife, Bill and Kim Barber and their daughter, Zoe, of Big Spring; her granddaughter-in-law and husband, Shanna and John Smith and their daughters, Skylar and Madison of Coahoma; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by one son, G. H. Barber, and her eleven siblings. The family suggests memorials to Odyssey Healthcare, Inc., 1003 E.
