William 'Bill' Siruta, 57, of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at his residence, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. A rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 24, 2008 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Midland with Father James Bridges, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.Bill was born March 21, 1950, in Colby, Kansas to Emma and William J. Siruta. He was the youngest of 4 children. He spent his childhood on his family farm, where he created memories and stories that he continued to pass on to his family. He attended school in Brewster, Kansas. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University. He worked on his master's degree at Utah State University.Bill married Marilyn Woodall on June 6, 1970 in Colby, Kansas. He started his career as a geologist in Crane, TX with Gulf Oil in 1974. His many talents in his life and career had brought him great success and many life long friends. He retired in 2006 with Latigo Petroleum to be at home with his loving wife.Bill was an avid woodworker, enjoyed riding motorcycles and jogging. He was giving and caring in nature. One of his greatest acts of selflessness was donating his own bone marrow to save a child suffering from leukemiaSurvivors include wife, Marilyn of Midland; son and daughter-in-law, B.J. and Amanda Siruta of Midland; daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Justin Johnson of San Antonio; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Heather Siruta of Midland; daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Michael Cipriani of Midland; grandchildren, Faith Siruta, Alex Siruta, Gabriel Siruta, Jeremiah Siruta, Kaitlyn Johnson, Cade Johnson and one on the way, baby Colson Cipriani; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MDA, 600 N Marienfeld, Suite 112, Midland, TX 79701 or to Helping Hands of Midland, ATTN: Mary Hardin, 1301 Brinson, Midland, TX 79703.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
