William Pannill Aycock died March 7, 2008 in Midland, Texas. He was a consulting petroleum engineer and independent oil operator for over forty years. He was born in Ft. Worth, Texas to Ercel G. Aycock and Adeline Pannill Aycock. He attended Ft. Worth public schools and graduated from Paschal High School in 1949. He attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, and graduated from the University of Texas with B.S. and Masters degrees in Petroleum Engineering in 1957. He was a reservist in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant in 1966. After graduation, he was employed by the Humble Oil & Refining Company. He attended the Humble Reservoir School in Houston, Texas and upon completion was assigned to the Humble Office in Midland. Later, he became an independent petroleum operator and was a partner in Sipes, Williamson, and Aycock, Consulting Engineers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Weed Aycock; his parents Ercel G. Aycock and Adeline Pannill Aycock; and an infant sister, Martha Cherry Aycock. He is survived by his brother, Charles L. Black Aycock of Houston and wife Claudia; his brother Edward S. Aycock of Lewisville, and wife Jan; and his niece Charlotte Cherry Aycock of Houston. Bill was a former member of the Midland Country Club and the Racquet Club. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Professional affiliations include the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers, and the Texas Board of Professional Engineers. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. Because of his love for animals, he was a life member of the National Audubon Society, the National Wildlife Federation, and the American Quarter Horse Association. Memorials may be made in his name to his favorite charity, the Morris Animal Foundation, 10200 E. Girard Ave., Suite B430, Denver, Colorado 80231 or to the Midland SPCA, 2701 S. County Road 1206, Midland, Texas 79706. Memorial Services will be held at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Chapel, 3800 N. Big Spring on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 10:00 AM.
