William Bryant Mueller (Bill), 75 of Midland, Texas, passed away on Thursday, April 13^th, 2023.

A visitation will be held at 4pm on Friday, April, 21^st, 2023 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Services will be at 11am Saturday, April 22^nd, 2023 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.

Bill was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Roy and Daisie, Mueller. He grew up in Kirkwood, Missouri, and was a standout athlete and student at Kirkwood High School. He attended The University of Tulsa where he earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Geophysics and joined the lifelong brotherhood of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. It was at TU where he met his soulmate and wife of 53 years, Ann Brooke Sloss Mueller. Bill is survived by his children Bryant and Bridget Mueller, Aaron and Ireland Mueller, and Ashley and Brandon King. He has been blessed with 7 wonderful grandchildren: Ali, Mason, Peyton, Brooke-Ann, Braxton, Brylee, and AJ. Bill loved all sports and was a staple at the local gym. He began his career with Union Oil Company, which led to a successful 35 year journey around the globe searching for and finding oil and gas. He then followed a dream and co-founded Antlers Exploration, LLC, an independent exploration company where he continued to be an industry leader in the field of geophysics. He was very active in his alumni associations for TU and Sigma Chi, and industry associations such as SEG and SIPES.

A dedicated husband, father and grandfather, Bill was a generous philanthropist and passionate supporter of the Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center.

Bill is preceded in death by his loving parents Roy and Daisie Mueller, James and Elizabeth Sloss, and Sister-in-law Kate Tabor.

I’ll never forget the first time I met Bill, my friend and I were working out and he came up to us and started talking about my friends Missouri University t shirt. Throughout the years we talked about track and field, pole vaulting, and how much we love our families. My friend and I inspired to be like him in the gym and the way he spoke about Brooke and his grandkids always left us in awe. We knew that’s the way we wanted to be. I’m glad I knew him, even if it was in a small capacity.

I was deeply saddened when I learned of Bill's passing. He was a good friend for 40 years, and I always looked forward to our conversations. I respected and valued his ability as a geophysicist and truly enjoyed working with him. It's hard to imagine a world without Bill in it. I miss his smile. So sorry to hear that Bill is no longer with us. He was a good man and better friend! The man loved Brooke and his family passionately and was so proud of each of them. Bill was the ultimate optimist as an explorer. When he was Chief Geophysicist for Unocal Mid-Continent we shot a proof-of-concept seismic line across a structural prospect idea generated by one of the geologists. It revealed the nicest syncline you ever saw. I thought Bill might be upset, but he said, "now you have two potential prospects, one on each end of the line!"

I will never forget Bill for the true, up-front person he was, and the friend he turned out to be. I remember how he taught me racquetball - he beat me like a step-child the first 15 or 20 times we played. I’d score two or three points; then a couple more, and a couple more. The day I finally won a match, he smiled that Mueller smile of his and said, “Well, WOP, you finally did it.” And gave me a slap on the back. Then we went and had a beer. And he was a pretty good geo-wizard too. To Brooke and the whole family, my deepest condolences for Bill’s passing. Words cannot express one’s true feelings sometimes, but Billy Bob was one of a kind. The Lord be with him and you all. I’ll say a few prayers.

In the week before Bill left for surgery we looked at a project I had been working on. He immediately shouted, " I knew there were more undrilled anticlines"! His excitement and competitive juices were on display! He was a Man's, Man.

So sorry about Bill. Bill was a fine man, and an excellent geophysicist. I know he will be missed by many.
