William Glen Rickey, 67, of Midland, TX, passed away August 16, 2026. He was born March 12, 1959, in Duncan, OK. The family will be receiving visitors at The American Legion Canteen in Midland, TX on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 11am-1pm.
Glen was the kind of man who never met a stranger. He had a way of making people feel like old friends, and wherever he went, he brought laughter, energy, and a little bit of mischief with him. He was the life of the party, always ready with a joke—sometimes a little inappropriate, but almost always guaranteed to make you laugh.
He lived a carefree, worry-free life, always choosing to enjoy the moment and never letting much stand in his way. He was fearless, a little bit of a daredevil, and, as anyone who knew him would tell you, wonderfully stubborn and hard-headed when he had his mind made up.
His favorite things to do were fish, hunt, and spend time outdoors. He loved taking his kids out on the lake tubing and teaching them to water ski. He was athletic and seemed to excel at everything he tried. He particularly loved shooting hoops with his kids and coaching them in various sports. You could also find him playing pool, where he could run the table without ever giving you a single turn. He was always up for an adventure, and doing things his own way—including snow skiing in his cowboy hat and shorts, because apparently regular ski attire was just not his style.
He lived life fully, laughed often, and left behind countless stories and memories that will keep his spirit alive. He passed peacefully during a prayer, with both of his children holding his hands. His body is restored now, and we find comfort imagining his glorious reunion in Heaven, with his mom, dad, and sister waiting at Heaven’s gate to welcome him home.
Glen is survived by his two children, Christian Shaun Rickey Hollums of The Woodlands, TX and Rachel Rickey Hopper and husband John Mark Hopper of Midland, TX; grandson Maximos Hollums; brother Steve Rickey; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Earl Rickey and Daisy Wynell Rickey, and his little sister Karen Rickey.
Dad, we love you, we will miss you more than words can say, and we are so grateful for every memory you gave us. Until we meet again.
