William Edwin Combest, 73, left this world, February 24, 2016, with fishing pole in hand. He headed off to the beautiful lakes in Heaven. He was born to William Hill and Octa Combest, in Clarendon, TX, on October 12, 1942. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1961 where he enjoyed playing baseball. Following high school he joined the Army Reserve where he served from 1965-1972. William enjoyed family, friends, stories, jokes, fishing, NASCAR, and Fox News. He was patriotic and supported our troops.William was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Marion Frank Combest, his sister Carol Bains and his brother Wallace Combest. He is survived by his loving wife, Debi Combest; his son Todd Combest and wife Elizabeth; his son Gregg Stroud; his daughter Tasha Long and husband Brad; his nephew (whom he loved like a son) Matt Vann and wife Nicole; and his “adopted” son Stephen Smith. He was “Pop-o” to 7 grandchildren. The family asks that in lieu of sending flowers that loved ones make a donation to Home Hospice of Midland or Reel Thanx (a local non-profit organization that takes our wounded soldiers fishing). He also wanted me to mention that not voting for Hillary would be a great option as well. The family will not be having a service but will be having a get together, following cremation, to celebrate the life of William Combest.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
