William E. Harrell, 91 of Stanton, died on Sunday, June 1, 2003, in a Stanton nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at the Evergreen Chapel at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton with Rev. Gene Weinette, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Senior Citizens Center in Stanton after the service. He was born on June 25, 1911, in Gainesville, Texas and married LaRue Conner on December 24, 1941 in Houston, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2000. Mr. Harrell taught school for over thirty-seven years. He taught math and science for twenty-two years for the Stanton Independent School District. He also did a little bit of cotton farming on a patch of land. William was a Methodist, and had served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. Survivors include his daughter, Patti Harrell of Midland; two sisters, Vida Wadley of Graham, and Lucille Hays of Olney. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Weldon Harrell and one sister, Buena Horany. The family suggest memorials to the Martin County Senior Citizens, P.O. Box 1233, Stanton, Texas 79782.
