William “Bill” Alvin Provins Jr., 86, of Midland, TX, passed away on May 2nd, 2022.
One of eight (8) children, Bill was born on January 2nd 1936 in Nashville, Arkansas to William Alvin and Marjorie Pearl Provins Sr. Bill was raised in Hot Springs, Arkansas, until he joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17. He was a member of IASTE Local 730, and was a film projectionist for many years as well while working on movie locations. Bill was a soft-spoken and passionate man who collected antiques and spent his spare time repairing watches and clocks.
Bill is survived by his wife, Helen Provins; his sister-in-law, Brenda Sharp; his four daughters, Debbie “Dee” Donovan; Margie & husband Steven Conrad; Sherri & husband Steve Dawe; Kimberly & husband John Dunn; and one son, Bill & wife Lisa; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Chela.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, three brothers, and one granddaughter.
Bill and Helen were married for 46 ½ years, and lived together in Victorville, California, until they moved to Midland, Texas, in 1984. Bill was well-loved, and will be sorely missed.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Manor Park, and Interim Hospice Healthcare, for their dedicated care.
Family and friends are invited for a gathering to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday, June 18th, between 2:00-4:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.
