David Miller left a message on November 30, -0001:
Our family loved Uncle Bill and his family, and had the utmost respect for him. Growing up, I also remember how Uncle Bill enjoyed Bea's (Tiny's) red beans & cornbread, and the chocolate cake in bean juice later! He was a patriot and served his country in the Army, during the European Theater of WW II and I enjoyed hearing his stories of adventures with other GI's under General Patton. But, as children, we were a little frightened of him, since he instilled discipline in his boys, and I was afraid he would do the same with me, although he never did. But it paid off, as his sons are all great individuals, contributing to society. And I respected his values more and more as I got older. Uncle Bill was a great man who will be missed, but we look forward to seeing him again some day in Heaven!

Kay Smith left a message on November 30, -0001:
When I was growing up, Uncle Bill always called me "Noisy." That was his way of making me smile, since I was very timid and scared of him, ever since I saw his "paddle" with holes in it, that he used to instill discipline in his boys. It must have worked, because all 3 of his sons have turned into the best husbands and fathers. I remember how he loved Aunt Tiny's red beans, and then with even more enjoyment, he loved to eat his chocolate cake in the leftover bean juice. Something I tried, but never quite acquired a taste for. Uncle Bill didn't really show emotion, but he was always willing to help out our family when mom needed repairs and handyman stuff. He's the type of man you never forget. He lived his life on solid principles and standards, and led by example.

Ella Bea, I am so sorry. I was just thinking of you yesterday and then James called me the sad news. Just be comforted knowing that he is in a better place and he lived a good life. I love you very much and I remember our good old Lamkin days. I hope now that you might be able to come to see me. Things have changed so much. Those deep ditches are no longer deep. We had so much fun. Love you forever.

My memories of Bill Fishback are good ones. I learned a great deal from him in the years he was our principal, and so did our students. He always stood for fairness to everyone and what was best. He gave the best of himself and he expected the best of his teachers and students. He left a mark as a man who stood on God's principles. I will never forget him. To you, Bea and your fine sons, I offer my prayers that God will surround you with His comfort. Blessings, Marilyn Read
