Wilford W. Currie, 91, of Carlsbad, formerly of Stanton died on Thursday, November 6, 2003, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, November 8, 2003 at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel in Stanton with Rev. David Harp pastor, of the First Baptist Church Stanton officiating. He was born on January 7, 1912, in Belmont, Louisiana and married Mattie Cox on March 20, 1935 in Big Spring, Texas. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2001. Mr. Currie had moved to Stanton from Louisiana in 1920. Then later moved to Carlsbad in 1950. He was a farmer and had retired in 1975. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his son, Ernest Currie of Carlsbad; 2 grandsons, J. W. Currie and wife, Kenneth Currie and wife; his granddaughter, Kendra; 3 great grandchildren, Isaac Currie, Elizabeth Currie and Michaela Currie.Arrangements under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home of Stanton.
