Weldon Tibbs, 81, of Big Spring, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church in Big Spring. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Weldon was born March 21, 1935 in Rochester, Texas to Fines Clifton Tibbs and Mary Belle Bradley Tibbs. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1953. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force and later worked for Cosden oil refinery, retiring in 1991. He was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #826.Weldon has been a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grand father, giving special attention to their spiritual guidance. Music was a very important part of his life and he shared his beautiful voice with his children and grandchildren, often accompanied by guitar. He also lent his tenor voice to many church choir specials over the years.Weldon and Genelle met early in their life in 1952, and were married in 1954. They celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 10th of this year, and they have been blessed by God every one of those years. He was selflessly devoted to his wife every single day and never left her side without leaving a goodbye kiss. Just before he left this life to begin eternity with Jesus and so many of his friends who have gone before, it was no different, he made sure he gave her one last kiss.Weldon is survived by his wife Genelle Tibbs; two daughters, Karen Wilson and husband, Jeff of Big Spring, and Sheryl Ann Tibbs Allen of Austin; and Ranen Wilson their great grand \son\; He is also survived by five grandchildren, Belinda Shiplett and husband, Kyle of Moore, OK, Karyl Ward and husband, Adam of Austin, Laura Lipham and husband, TJ of Big Spring, Karissa Casas and husband, John of Knott, and Joshua Wilson and wife, Kelly of Mertzon: and 11 great grandkids.He was preceded in death by one son Garry Weldon Tibbs; his parents, and three sisters, Lazelle Thomas, Lanora Falk, and Theresa Tibbs.The family would like to thank Compass Hospice for their tender care.The family suggests memorial and gifts be made in memory of Weldon to the Trinity Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1701 East Marcy Drive, Big Spring, TX 79720.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
