Weldon D. Peeples, 78, of Big Spring, died on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, in a local hospital. In honor of Weldon's request, there will be no memorial service for him.He was born on August 15, 1932, in Roby, Texas. He served for four years in the United States Navy and retired from the appraisal district in Big Spring.Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Barbara Peeples of Harrisonville, Missouri; and one sister, Gracie Williams of Roby.He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sabra Peeples; one brother, Milton Peeples; and one sister, Ramona Peeples.The family suggests memorials be made to Longworth Cemetery Association, 573 CR 107, Roby, Texas 79543 or to a favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. I am saddened to hear of Weldon's passing. I first met Weldon 25 years ago at the tax office. He was so nice and helpful, and as the years passed, we became good friends. Weldon was a good man and a gentleman. His pleasant nature and smile will be missed by me and by the many others that he treated so kindly.

I ENJOYED WORKING WITH WELDON WHEN HE WAS A TAX APPRAISER IN HOWARD COUNTY. I WAS THE TAX ASSESSOR/COLLECTOR OF COAHOMA ISD AND HE CAME TO MY OFFICE OFTEN. HE WAS ALWAYS HELPFUL TO ME.
