Wilson Wayne Henry, 74 went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Friday, March 8, 2013, in Glen Rose, Texas doing what he loved doing giving from his heart to help out his family while planning an extravagant dinner he would cook for them on Saturday night.The family will receive friends at 7:00 PM Monday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Big Spring. A private family burial will be held Wednesday morning on his beloved ranch at Shamrock, Texas at the Henry Family Cemetery with a 2:00 PM memorial service at First Baptist Church, Shamrock, Texas.Wayne was born July 1, 1938 in Shamrock to Woodrow Wilson Henry and Cecil Charity Hendrick. He grew up on the family place east of Shamrock and graduated from Shamrock high School in 1956. He left for college hoping never to return to the agricultural lifestyle, but developed a deep love for the ranch later in life. He loved nothing better than improving his herd of Red Angus and seeing how his cattle would do in the show ring. Several years ago, he got into the goat business and became known throughout the southwest for selling award-winning Boar show goats.He married Londa Coker September 5, 1959 while both were students at Texas Tech University and was a member of the ATO fraternity. Together they raised a family in Big Spring, Texas where he worked in the oil business. Later in life he owned an insurance agency, numerous steakhouses throughout the state of Texas and was a stockbroker. Wherever he lived, he took an active role in the church and community. Whether it was serving as president of the Kingsland Chamber of Commerce, emceeing numerous events, or simply visiting with one of his customers; he had a way of making everyone feel special. Never one to shy away from the spot light, he had a knack for telling stories which made everyone laugh by the colorful details and they seemed to grow bigger each time they were told. He enjoyed many hobbies from fishing, hunting, golf, stain glass to cooking. It was his love of cooking that lead to his latest project of writing a cookbook. What he enjoyed most, though, was being surrounded by his family and looked forward to spending time with them.He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Gloria Coker Petterson.He is survived by his wife, Londa Coker Henry and their children, Shawna (Larry) Ashlock of Fort Worth, Texas; Greg (Lori) Henry of Arlington, Texas; and Kurt (Amy) Henry of Rainbow, Texas. His grandchildren, Lauren (Ben) Barksdale; Aaron (Diana) Ashlock; Heston Henry; Holland Henry; Kord Henry; Rawlins Henry and two great-grandchildren, Evlyn Grace Barksdale and Hudson Barksdale; his brother-in-law, Paul (Laura) Petterson along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 705 W. My Goodness! I just heard about this with in the hour from Ben Bancroft. I called Frances..but I guess she was at the service.I sure enjoyed knowing Wayne Henry. He was so generous and light hearted. If Wayne ever had anything serious going on, you would never know it. I know he could always cheer up my dad (winston) and that took allot of work for most people.
