Wayne Cook, 76, of Stanton, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Monty Kreis, pastor, officiating and Chris Tyler and Van Pendergrass assisting. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. He was born on February 28, 1933, in Stanton, and married Jo Ann Polk on May 28, 1950 in Stanton. Wayne was a lifelong resident of Martin County. He was a shop foreman at Ector Thornton Implement for over 10 years. His loves in life were his family and cotton farming. He served as community committee member in the ASCS office from 1981 to 1983 then from 1984 to 1992 as county committee member and also county committee member from 1992 to 2003. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include wife, Jo Ann Cook of Stanton; three sons, Mike Cook and wife, Liz of Dumas, Steve Cook and wife, Trica of Stanton, Ronnie Cook and wife Jana of Stanton; two daughters, Ann Prough and husband Sam of Stanton and, Kim Baker and husband Lester also of Stanton; one brother, Fred Cook and wife Jean of Littlefield; 9 grandchildren, Allen Prough, Kara Uilbarri, Jared Cook, Nathan Cook, Brady Cook, Kendell Cook, Joseph Cook, Kelly Cook and Sarah Baker and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. The family suggests memorials be made to the Evergreen Cemetery Association, P.O.
