Warren Newsom, 73, of Midland passed away July 30, 2022. Viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2022 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Warren was born on April 25, 1949 in Bethesda, Maryland to Warren and Barbara Newsom. He married Kelly Newsom on July 28, 1984 in Odessa, Texas. After football for West High School in Anchorage, Alaska; he went on to play football at University of Mississippi and later was drafted by the Saints. After being injured in the off-season, Warren decided to join the United States Air Force and ended his service on February 16, 1973 as a Vietnam veteran. Warren transferred to Midland in 1977 as a financial consultant and continued consulting several companies in the Permian Basin until his retirement in 2012. During this time, he also coached several young soccer players and when he wasn’t coaching, you would find him on the sidelines watching games. Warren spent his remaining years in his home with his family and loved ones close by his side.
Warren is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Allen Brock; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jennifer Aston; grandchildren, John Brock and wife Teagan Brock, Jordan Watkins, William Aston, Jayson Watkins, Ava Aston, and Zachary Brock; great-grandchildren, Emmalyn Brock, Paisley Brock, Gunnar Brock, and Oaklynn Brock; brother, Gary Newsom and sister-in-law, Terri Preston-Newsom; brother, Dennis Newsom; and nephews, Anthony Darrell Lee Newsom and P.W. Newsom.
Warren is preceded in death by his father, Warren T. Newsom; mother Barbara P. Newsom; wife, Kelly J. Newsom, and brother, Thomas D. Newsom.
