Ward Terry, M.D., 66, of Midland, died on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at a local hospital. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM, Thursday, October 12, 2006 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 3800 N Big Spring Street in Midland. Dr. Terry will be in state at the funeral home Thursday, October 12.Ward was born on November 14, 1939 to Edward Alan Terry and Ida Mary Wohlmacher Terry in Staten Island, New York. Ward did his undergraduate training at Colegate University and received his medical degree from John Hopkins University. He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. He was chief of radiology at the Dallas V.A. Medical Center. He came to Midland for the first time to practice medicine in 1980. While in Midland he was instrumental in helping to start the Allison Cancer Center. After retirement, he moved back to Midland. He was involved in training and lecturing with emergency response teams, police, firemen, etc., regarding radiation exposure.Survivors include his wife, Suzie Terry of Midland; four sons, Charles Terry of Euless, Christopher Terry of Atlanta, Georgia, Sabastian Horten of Dallas and James Horten of Norfolk, Virginia; three daughters, Margaret Nagel of Azle, Texas, Kimberly Wise of Aledo, Texas and Desiree Oben of Abilene; his beloved mother-in-law, Brigida R. Mayfield; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
