Walter Ray Reeves, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on June 6, 1944, in San Angelo, Texas, Walter spent his life fostering connections, creating memories, and living to the fullest.
Walter began working in the oilfield at a young age for M.F. Machen, showcasing his unwavering work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. In 1989, he took a bold step to become a business owner, establishing several companies before he retired, leaving a lasting legacy in the industry.
Walter’s heart belonged to his family. He married LaQuetta O’Neil in 1963, with whom he welcomed two children, Wally and Shanna. Walter married Sherry Jean Williamson in 1984, welcoming two more wonderful children, Lindsey and Billy, into the world. Following Sherry’s passing in 2001.
His passion for storytelling, love for fishing, and joy in surprising his family—like surprising them with a shiny Corvette—defined his character. Walter was known for bringing people together over cold beers and loved to live life outdoors.
Walter is survived by his son Wally Reeves and his wife Sandy; his daughter Shanna Tatsch and her husband Rodney; his daughter Lindsey Fisher and her husband Tony; his son Billy Reeves and his wife Sheila; his sister Charlene and her husband Bud; and his brothers Tommy and JD and his wife Zeevie. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom carry his legacy of love and laughter.
A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, September 27th, 2026 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. The family will be holding a private burial at a later date.
Pallbearers will include Dustin Dickman, Dillon Courtney, Kahler Reeves, Ryan Reeves, Hayden Reeves, and Tyler Hiser. Honorary pallbearers are JD Fowler, Richard Tatsch, Zeke Baker, and Darren Anthony.
