Wallace Doyle Gilbert

Wallace Doyle Gilbert, a beloved husband, son, brother and grandfather passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. He was born in Odessa, TX on August 3, 1940 to the late Norman “N.O.” and Maline Gilbert.

Doyle was a 1958 graduate of Wichita Falls Old High School, in Wichita Falls, TX. He served in the United States army from 1959-1963. Doyle was a hard-working man who worked for MF Machen and retired from both Atmos Energy and Midland County Road and Bridge.

Doyle was an amazing man of God. He was a Deacon at New Harvest Church in Midland, TX. He loved spreading the word of God and serving his community. He was extremely generous and would give you the shirt off his back.

In 1980, Doyle met the love of his life, Nina, in San Angelo, TX. In 1981, they moved to Midland and got married. They were happily married for 36 years before Nina passed away in 2017. He loved her with every fiber of his being. He showed those around him what the true meaning of love was.

Doyle had a granddaughter, Lori, and great-granddaughter, Livia(Khi Khi), that he adored. He enjoyed traveling to Dallas and spending time with them. He was so proud of them and all of their accomplishments. If you knew Doyle, you knew how much he loved both of them.

Doyle was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and never missed a game.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nina Gilbert; parents Norman “N.O.” and Maline Gilbert and brother, Cecil Gilbert

He leaves to cherish his memories, brother, Bobby Gene Gilbert; sister, Clynelle Stayton; granddaughter, Lori Hawkins-Sims; great granddaughter, Livia Clemons and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and many friends.
