Ginger Newsom, 77, formerly of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, in Fort Worth, Texas following a long courageous battle. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.The family will receive freinds from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.She was born on July 24, 1931, in Arkansas and married Jimmie D. Newsom in 1966 in Fort Worth, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2003.Ginger was a longtime resident of Howard County. She was a loving, caring and giving wife, mother and grandmother.Survivors include one daughter, Jana Upchurch of Fort Worth; two sons, Jimmy Newsom of Big Spring and Shane Newsom of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, Kevin and Ashley Upchurch, Michael and Taylor Newsom and Ritchie Merritt; 10 brothers and sisters; and a multitude of loving family members.She will be greatly missed!Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Although I didn't now Ginny very well, when we were together she was fun to be around. She was a "tell it like it is" kind of person. I liked that. She had a great sense of humor and when she smiled you could see it all the way into her eyes. She will be missed dearly by many. May they celebrate her life and know now that she rests comfortably with her God.
