Vickie Lee Chester, 59 of Midland TX passed away November 5th, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Vigil services will be the evening of Sunday November 9th at 7pm at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Midland, TX. Funeral services will be Monday November 10th at 1pm, also at St. Ann's Catholic Church.Vickie was born December 4th, 1954 in Tulia, Texas to James and Irene Wilhelm. She was the valedictorian of Nazareth High School and graduated from West Texas State University where she was a member of the marching band. She met the love of her life, Paul Eugene Chester in early 1980 and together they started a family and shared the next 31 years together in love. Vickie's exuberance for her children spilled over into her free time where she spent many weekend cheering them on at the ball fields. Vickie was a devout Catholic who willingly volunteered her time teaching Catechism and Baptism classes at St. Ann's Catholic Church. She also volunteered within the Midland community helping those less fortunate. She began her long career in education in New Braunfels, then McCamey, and retired from Midland ISD where she improved the lives of many students for the duration of 38 years.Her husband, Paul Chester preceded her in death in 2011.She is survived by her son Ben Chester and his wife, Allisson of Dallas, daughter Katy Pierce and her husband Travis, and grandson, Tatum of Kennedale, parents James and Irene Wilhelm of Nazareth, siblings Juanita Barker of Lubbock, Mary Lynn Olvera, Jeanie Birkenfeld, Angie Milton, Dale Wilhelm all of Nazareth, Tim Wilhelm of Amarillo, Evelyn Rankin of San Antonio, and Shawn Wilhelm of Dumas, sister-in-law Linda Blaser of Toluca Lake, CA and numerous nieces and nephews as well as those whose lives she touched through her teaching and mentoring of young minds.Memorials can be sent to MISD Education Foundation, ATTN: Jami Owen, 550 W Texas ST, Room 250, Midland, TX 79701.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
