The tears won't quit. Weeping comes in waves. It's hard to imagine Big Spring without Vicki. In normal times, please know that mourners would fill the coliseum to celebrate her exceptional life and share your grief at this terrible loss. I do imagine the Heaven that Vicki found looks a lot like her dreamy, colorful, inspirited paintings. She left a legacy of a true and faithful servant.

It is hard to begin to say how much Vicki and her family means to me. She was a sister by a different mother who took me under her wing when I returned to Big Spring after my father's death to help my mother. She guided me through my new steps at Goliad Middle School as a fellow artist and teacher, a relationship that never ended even after we both retired. Her mother, Nancy, and Howard's mom, Ina, became second mothers to me throughout the remaining years I had my mom with me and helped me after her passing. Vicki was always there. She made me a family member of the warmest and loving clan in the world. I got to see Quintinn and Stephanie grow up. I learned to drive a bus under Howard's loving guidance. She will always be with me especially when I see a Van Gogh painting or watch a butterfly in flight. My heart and soul is aching now but Vicki will help me heal from heaven above. She would want me to stop the tears and continue on doing good and enjoying art but she will have to take me under her wings again and give me strength because I miss her too much. I hope these words and memories bring comfort to Howard and the family. I don't know why the Lord needed Vicki up there as an angel when she was such a great one here on earth but I know I will see her again. Until that time my love and hugs to the family, "my family", and all who knew Vicki. I miss you sis.
