Vicente Villarreal, 52, of Midland passed away on Friday, February 20, 2009 at MD Anderson in Houston, Texas after a courageous two and one-half year battle with cancer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 23, 2009 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Bellview Baptist Church, 1710 N. Big Spring St., Midland, with Rev. Myron Unruh, Terry Franklin and Reggie Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Vicente was born on June 16, 1956 in Sonora, Texas and moved to Midland shortly after. He took great pleasure in spending time with his loving wife of thirty-one years, Julie and his pride and joy, Chad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and loved the outdoors. There was always a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews. Vicente is survived by his wife, Julie Villarreal; son, Chad Villarreal and wife Julie; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vicente Villarreal; grandmother, Ms. Manuela Martinez; sisters, Ofelia Lowe, husband Terry and their children, Anthony, Lance, and Ashley, Laura Villarreal and her children Christopher, Frankie, and Victoria. Bertha Sanchez, husband David and their children, Amanda and Jeremy, Angela Flores, husband Jason and their daughter Camille; brothers, Harvey Villarreal, wife Vicky and their children Curtis and Joe Dan, Joe Villarreal and his children Rebecca and Joseph, and Danny Villarreal, wife Betty and their children Emily and Audry; parent-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williams; brother-in-law, Billy Williams, wife Kelly and their children Brandon, Kyle and Gregory. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Steven Curley, Dr. Sharon Chang and the staff at MD Anderson. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to MD Anderson, Attn. Dr. Steven Curley, Target Radiowave Therapy Fund, Account #80012561, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, Texas 77030. Pallbearers will be; Kevin Glaspie, Larry Crowder, Buck Rogers, Jesse Hooper, Matt Faudree, David Sanchez, Mac Parsons, and Reggie Franklin. Honorary pallbearers will be; Harvey Villarreal, Joe Villarreal, Danny Villarreal, Terry Lowe, and Billy Williams. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I have very fond childhood memories of Vicente; like the time he coached our basketball team. He always encouraged us to play our best and it was evident to me, even at a young age, that he truely loved watching Chad grow and succeed.
