Vestal Marshall went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2014 at the age of 96. She was born Vestal Aileen Smith July 1, 1918 in Westbrook, Texas to Walter Ernest and Lula Mae Smith, followed by younger siblings Walter Ernest Smith, Junior and Betty Lou Smith. After high school graduation, she attended Tarleton State University for one year. She married Frank Edwin Hall in San Angelo August 23, l937. While living in Westbrook, two sons,Jerry and Larry Don were born. They moved to Ackerly in 1946 to settle into farming. After Edwin’s death in the fall of 1955, she and cousin, Evelyn Horton, opened a Beauty Shop in Ackerly where she was working until she was introduced to E. R. “Shorty” Marshall. They found a love and kinship that lasted over 30 years. Married May 24, 1962, they blended two families together beautifully! After Shorty’s death, Vestal continued to live in Lamesa until health issues took her to an assisted living facility in Big Spring. In October of 2014, she moved to an assisted living facility in Waxahachie to be closer to family. She is survived by children; Jerry Hall of Kerrville, T. Larry Marshall and wife, Bobbie of Garland, Larry Don Hall and wife, Jeannie of Waxahachie, and Jan Wishard and husband, Mark of Suwanne, GA; grandchildren, David Hall of Houston, D’Ann Hall of Richardson, Amy Parker and husband, Steve, of Knott; Scott Marshall and wife, Joanna, of Rockwall, Cheri Combe and husband, Mike, of Suwanne, GA, Bryan Hall and wife, Denise, of Perry, OK, Shelli Wishard of Alpharetta, GA, Gary Hall of Lubbock, Rebecca Edwards and husband, Joel of Waco; great grandchildren, Jacob, Jackson, Caroline, and Hadley Hall, Kati Fang, Zachary and Allison Porter, Mason and Landon Parker, Bailey and Abby Marshall, William, Marshall and Wade Combe, Alyssa and Caden Hall, Hannah and Hudson Hall, and Ella, Jack and Lucy Edwards. Memorials can be made to Foster’s Home for Children in Stephenville, Texas or the charity of your choice. We rejoice for the wonderful life she led and the example she set for all who knew her. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice Care for lovingly serving our Mamaw in her last days. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 2, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM prior to the services. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
