Verna Vickers, 80, of Coahoma, died on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Coahoma, with Rev. Elwin Collom, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring.The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.She was born on April 16, 1924, in Alluwe, Oklahoma and married O. L. "Vic" Vickers on November 12, 1943 in Vancouver, Washington.Mrs. Vickers had been in the community since 1965. Verna was a good seamstress and cook. She was a very hospitable person who loved her grandchildren and all her friends children. She was a good wife, mother, sister – the best of everything. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coahoma and the Senior Citizens of Coahoma.Survivors include her husband, O. L. "Vic" Vickers of Coahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Larry Sherrard of DeLeon; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Phyllis Peck of Coahoma, and Letha Jo and Arnie Oldenettel of Haven, Kansas; one brother and sister-in-law, James Leroy and Alice McLaughlin of Ashland City, Tennesee; three grandchildren and their spouses, Bill and Gina Sherrard of Rhome, Brian and Teisha Sherrard of DeLeon, and Bobbette and Rich Walker of Ft. Worth; three great grandchildren, Samantha Sherrard of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Jacob and Joshua Wadley both of Ft. Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.The family suggest memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Coahoma Building Fund, P.O.
