Vera Jane Lee

Vera Jane Lee, 103, of Big Spring, died on Friday, December 7, 2001, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Darrell Hendrickson, pastor of First Church of God, officiating. She was born on March 9, 1898 in Sterling County, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. James Henry Bugg, poineer settlers. She married Joseph M. Lee on August 22, 1949 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1990. She had been a resident of Big Spring since 1919. She received her high school diploma at the age of 62. She was an artist and painted many pictures. Mrs. Lee had been a member of the First Church of God for over 80 years and played the piano for a number of years. Survivors include include one daughter, Marilyn Taylor of Big Spring; one son, Dr. Joe E. Davis, Jr. of Marion, Alabama; two grandsons, Norris Pennington of Kingsland and Roland Lee Taylor of Chesapeake, Virginia; one granddaughter, Deana Jo Deiler of Niceville, Florida; and four great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Milton S. Davis and Jackie J. Davis; four brothers and three sisters.
