Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.She was born January 27, 1925 in Dawson County, Texas to John and Emma Strawn Childers. She married Judson Henry Lloyd June 16, 1949 in Lamesa, Texas. He preceded her in death January 27, 2006.Velta came to Big spring in 1949 and had worked for Big Spring Independent School District as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1987. She served on the advisory board for Big Spring Education Employees Federal Credit Union for a number of years. She enjoyed camping and fishing with Judson after their retirement, and she loved being with her grandchildren.She had been a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and had served as church secretary, and is currently a member of First United Methodist Church.Survivors include three children, Lynda Elrod and husband, Dee of Big Spring, Robert Judson Lloyd and wife, Karen of Carrollton, and Kathy Laurence and husband, Phil of Cedar Park; five grandchildren, Laura Eckhardt and husband, Bryan, Leslie Hobbs and husband, Justin, Stephanie Shannon and husband, Chris, Alan Lloyd and wife, Courtney, and John Laurence; nine great-grandchildren, Chase and Blake Eckhardt, Jack and Cori Shannon, Piper and Jenna Hobbs, and Alex, Cameron and Bradley Lloyd; numerous nieces and nephews; and her sweet companion, Buddy.She was also preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Clayton Childers.The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Kindred at Home, the staff at Marcy Place and to special friend and caretaker, Ruth Johnson for their love and care during the past few years.The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, 400 Scurry St., Big Spring, Texas 79720.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
