Velma Lucille MohlingRomine, 75, of Big Spring, died on Monday, July 6, 2009, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Ralph Anderson, minister of Birdwell Lane Church of Christ and Larry Marshall, minister of Knott Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.Lucille was born April 5, 1934 near Leedy, Oklahoma. She graduated from Dumas High School in 1951 and met her husband Tom Romine at Porters Grocery in Dalhart Texas. They were married 54 1/2 years. Her interests included gardening, arrowhead hunting, cooking, bowling, fishing, quilting and sewing, playing parlor games, birdwatching, and writing letters to her friends and family. Some of the things that set her apart were that she was very competitive, very active in the Church of Christ, stayed up to date on current events and politics, read her Bible every day and she was always willing to help someone in need.Survivors include her husband, Tom Romine of Big Spring; one son, Larry Romine and wife, Vietia of Big Spring; one grandson, Orin Romine and wife, Jennifer of Big Spring; two granddaughters, Sheila Romine of Midland and Rachel Romine of Big Spring; two sisters, Doris McCutchan and husband, Jerry of Dumas and Gladys Weatherford and husband, Roy of Dalhart. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Velma Mohling; a son, Lynn Romine; and a sister, Lorene Ballard and husband, Robert. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Sherwood and Myrtie Foster Home For Children, P.O.
