Van Bik Thawng, 37, was called home to be with Jesus Christ, his Savior, Thursday, November 13, 2014 surrounded by his brothers and sisters of Midland Chin Baptist Church and Chin Community of Midland. Van was born on Aug 24, 1977 in Lungler, Than Tlang Township in the Chin State, Burma. He immigrated to the United States in June of 2011 and resided in Des Moines, Iowa and Indianapolis, Indiana before moving to Midland in 2012. He was a member of Midland Chin Baptist Church.Van is survived by his parents, Van Awi and Doi Zing who live in the Chin State, Burma. He had always hoped that someday his family could join him in the United States.A memorial service to celebrate Van's life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Midland. Reverend Thawngling Mualhlun, Pastor of Chin Evangelical Baptist Church of Indianapolis, Indiana, will officiate. Interment will follow at Resthaven North Cemetery.
