Urbano D. Rios of Midland, Texas was called home to be with our Father in heaven on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. A private rosary and funeral will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church on Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6, 2021.
Urbano was born on April 2, 1938 in San Carlos Chihuahua, Mexico to Inez Rios Sr. and Lucia Dominguez Rios. He was a principal and teacher for Presidio Independent School District, a teacher for Alpine Public Schools for several years; an instructional consultant for Region 18 in Midland, Texas; and a counselor for Bunche and West Elementary Schools also in Midland, Texas.
Urbano is survived by his wife, Elidia Rios of Midland, Texas and 6 children: Elizabeth Torres and her husband Vidal of Midland, TX; Esther Carrillo and her husband Calistro Jr of San Antonio, TX; Donna Rios of El Paso, TX; Herlinda Melendez of Midland, TX; Glenn Rios and his partner Leah Heptner of Austin, TX; and JoAnn Jaquez and her husband Mark of Midland, TX; as well as 12 grand-children: Ray Espinoza and his wife Violet, Adalina Borrego and her husband Eddie, Adrian Carrillo, Vidal Torres IV, Lucas Melendez IV, Glenn Losoya and his wife Melanie, Jasmine Acosta, Sonia and her husband Stefano, Brandon Acosta, Mireya Torres, Francesca Jaquez, and Olivia Jaquez and 10 great-grand-children: Andre Espinoza, Mathew Canales, Gregorio (Geo) Rodriquez, Lorenzo Borrego, Alaura Rodriquez, Urbano Borrego, Nikko Espinosa, Titus Rodriguez, Roman Espinosa, and Jubilee Rodriquez.
Urbano is also survived by his last surviving sibling, Elena Fierro, and spoke endearingly of his many nieces, nephews, and his other extended family members.
