Tye Renfro, 89, formerly of Coahoma, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, in Bridgeport, Texas. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Trinity Memorial Park. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at the Ira First Baptist Church with her son, Rev. Jim Renfro officiating.Tye was born September 13, 1928 on the Featherston home place northeast of Novice in Coleman County, Texas. Her parents were O. B. “Bob” Featherston and Laura Risinger Featherston.She was preceded in death by her husband, A. James Renfro; her brothers, Ben Featherston, Baxter “Sonny” Featherston and Leon Featherston; and by her sister, Josephine Fonville.She is survived by her sons, James L. Renfro and his wife, Monique, of Abilene, Texas, Richard Renfro and his wife, Denise, of Mesquite, Texas, and Troyce Renfro and his wife, Becky of Runaway Bay, Texas; and by her grandchildren, Michael Renfro of Rome, Georgia, Laura Renfro Allshouse and her husband, Brandon, of Greenville, South Carolina, Patrick Renfro of Gun Barrel City, Texas, Tyler Renfro of Winters, Texas, and Whitney Renfro of Runaway Bay, Texas.Tye attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas her freshman year in college. The following year she transferred to Hardin Simmons University in Abilene where she met her future husband, James. They both graduated from Hardin Simmons in 1949 and were married December 27, 1949, in Midland, Texas.Tye was a school teacher, having taught in the Garden City ISD for two years, the Novice ISD for two years, and the Coahoma ISD for thirty-one years. She and James lived in the Midland area the first two years of their marriage, then moved to Abilene. In 1958, they moved their family to Coahoma. After James’ death, Tye retired from teaching in 1985 and moved back to Abilene. She moved to Bridgeport in 2014.Tye was a devout Christian, serving as a preacher’s wife, Sunday School teacher and sometime pianist for various churches. At the time of her death, she was a member of Wylie Baptist Church in Abilene.Although Tye will be missed greatly by her family and friends, we rejoice that she is now with her Lord whom she loved so much.The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
