Twana Evers, 86 of Midland, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 16, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, October 23, 2023 at First Christian Church of Midland. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Twana was born on August 21, 1937 in Carmen, Oklahoma to Victor and Esta Corbin Boyce. Twana attended Odessa High School where she was a member of the band. It was here that she met her high school sweetheart and future husband Kenneth Evers. They were married on June 13, 1956. The Evers lived in Lubbock, TX while Kenneth finished college and then moved to Dallas. They moved back to Lubbock a few years later and eventually to Midland in 1969. Twana stayed at home for several years to raise her two daughters and became active as a volunteer through her church and the PTA. Twana returned to the work force and was employed by Texas Electric for the next 20 years where she worked as a secretary and earned a Professional Secretary Certification.
Twana has always been an active member of First Christian Church where she has served as a Deacon, an Elder, and served on and chaired the Concerns Committee. She was a long-time member of the church choir and participated in the hand bell choir.
Twana’s faith was a pillar of her life. She was diagnosed with ALS in January of 2023 and her faith carried her through the struggles of this terrible disease. She has been an example of grace and faith to her family, friends, and those who cared for her.
Twana Evers is survived by her daughters Lisa Kilborn and Kristi Evers, both of Midland, and their families. Grandchildren include Zachary Kilborn and his wife Shawna of Lubbock, Hunter Kilborn of Midland, Brittney Hardin and her husband Alex, of Lubbock, and Courtney Harvey and her husband Hunter of Midland. She also has three great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Easton, and Grace of whom she was very proud. Twana is also survived by her sister-in-law Shirley Boyce of Lubbock, and her brother-in-law Don Moore of Bandera.
Twana is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Kenneth Evers, her parents Victor and Esta Boyce, her brother Cecil Boyce, and her sister Twylah Moore.
