Troy V. Nix, 66, of Stanton, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Evergreen Cemetery Chapel with Rev. Doug Shelley, chaplain with Crossroads Hospice, officiating.The family will receive friends from 7 PM to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.He was born on March 9, 1943, in Lamesa, Texas and married Renee Roper on March 25, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada.Troy grew up and attended school in Ackerly. He farmed in Martin County for many years and worked as a service lineman for Caprock Energy for 29 years, retiring in 1996. Troy was a handy man and took pride in building homes and barns. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially teaching his grandchildren various activities such as how to drive a tractor.Survivors include wife, Renee Nix of Stanton; two sons, Troy Linn Nix of Odessa and Freddie Nix and wife, Heather of Stanton; one daughter, Karen Nix of Stanton; and four grandchildren, Tamara Kay Nix, Nathan Joshua Nix and Jordilee Nix all of Stanton, and Robin Linn Nix of Big Spring. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Sue Foster Nix.The family suggests memorials to Crossroads Hospice, 421 S. Main St., Big Spring, Texas 79720 or The University of Texas M. D.
