Troy Nelson, Jr., 65, of Midwest City, Oklahoma, formerly of Sand Springs, died on Friday, June 1, 2007, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Jim Binnix, pastor of Midway Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.He was born on October 14, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas and married Barbara Schroeder on August 14, 1971 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Troy was raised in the Sand Springs area. He served in the United States Navy and was stationed at El Toro, California. He worked as a pipe fitter most of his life and retired in 2000 from Local 494 in Long Beach, California.Survivors include his wife, Barbara Nelson of Midwest City, Oklahoma; his mother, Viola Nelson of Millington, Tennesee; one son, Lloyd Nelson of Millington, Tennesee; two daughters, Tonya Kirkland of Washington, Pennsylvania, and Starr Cullum of Millington, Tennesee; seven grandchildren, and one expected great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his father, Troy Nelson, Sr. and one sister, Jackie Nelson. Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
