Tony Sawyer, 56, of Lenorah, Texas, departed from this world to be face to face with the Lord on November 9, 2012. A lifelong cotton farmer and resident of Lenorah, Tony graduated from Grady High School in 1974 and served on the Grady School Board for several years. With a good will, he served his community of friends as a member of the Tarzan Co-op Gin Board, Millholland Board, Martin County Water District Board, Martin County Appraisal Board, National Sporting Clay Association, and the Lenorah Volunteer Fire Department.Tony was born on November 6, 1956 to James Sawyer, who preceded him in death in 1995, and Donna Womack-Sawyer, in Seminole, TX and married the love of his life Wendy Tunnell in September of 1991. A workman of Christ, he attended both Lenorah and Tarzan Baptist Churches and studied daily building upon his library of doctrinal notes, pausing only now to be away from his body and at home with the Lord where he has eagerly awaited hearing first-hand accounts of all the wonders the Bible holds and to discover how the Lord will use him next. With a boundless gift of encouragement he spurred many of his friends and family on to spiritual maturity with the same grace, wisdom, love, and fairness that he strived to show in all things and just seemed to be his nature.Survivors include his wife, Wendy; Children, Savannah Nicole, Bryan and wife Tasha Creech mother, Donna Womack-Sawyer; sister, Darla and husband Steve Poole and sons Dee and Dusty Saunders; and Grandchildren Wyatt and Braylan Creech; JC and Melinda Tunnell, Brad and Ginger Tunnell, Shelly Warren, James and Jogay Hill; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, James Sawyer; sister, Joanna; and favorite cousin and friend, David Bruner.Services will be held 3pm Monday November the 12th, at the First Baptist Church of Tarzan with internment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. Visitation will be at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton, on Sunday the 11th from 3-5 pm.The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Hospice of Midland.And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
