Tommye Zimrude Hollingshead

Tommye Zimrude Hollingshead, 86, of Big Spring, died Saturday, November 8, 2008, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at the Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with Rev. Ricky Hope, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lillian, Texas and Rev. Walter McCall, Chaplain of Compass Hospice, officiating. Tommye was born December 3, 1921, in Pioneer, Texas to Charles and Zelma Brooks. She came to Big Spring in 1947 and had worked for the Social Security Administration for twenty years as an administrative aide before she retired. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for many years. She married LeRoy Hollingshead on May 4, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1974. Survivors include one son, Joe Hollingshead of Christoval; one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Chick Madry of Big Spring; six grandchildren, J.J. Hollingshead of Fort Worth, Ricky Hope of Lillian, Shasta Smith of New Mexico, Caleb Hollingshead of Lubbock, Hampton Hollingshead of Christoval, and Ronnie Joe Hope of Big Spring; and six great grandchildren.Mrs. Hollingshead was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
