Tommy Barrett Tims, 83, of Midland, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in Houston. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel with Brother Bob Porterfield officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Resthaven Memorial Park.Tommy was born on November 16, 1934 to Minnie Beumah and Thomas Wesley Tims in Okemah, Ok. He moved to Odessa at an early age and always called the Permian Basin home. Being the son of a career oil man, he followed in those footsteps with his own career of 63 years. In 1992 he was recognized by the Permian Basin Oil Show as a “Petroleum Pioneer”. Along with his dedication and hard work he enjoyed family, friends and volunteer work. His passion was cooking for benefits including cerebral palsy, Wounded Warriors, cancer patients or anyone in need.Those left to cherish his memory are daughter Laura Tampke and husband Bill of Houston; son Barry Tims and wife Lori of Valley Mills; daughter Jeanie Holloway and husband Dave of Burnet; son Bradley Tims of Midland; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his loving wife Pat Tims; son Dean Tims; parents; and sister Lea Taylor of Odessa.The Tims family would like to express their gratitude towards all personal friends of Midland and surrounding Permian Basin including American Legion Post 19.The family would also like to express heartfelt gratitude to M.D. Anderson Hospital and staff for their excellent care during his battle.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Research or American Legion Post 19 of Midland, TX.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
