Tim Shawn Carter, 62 of Midland, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 25, 2024 surrounded by his family. After a valiant year-long battle with illness, we know he was met with a “Well done, good and faithful servant.” A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Midland, TX.

Tim was born on February 13, 1961 in Midland, Texas to James and Eloise Carter. As a lifelong resident of Midland, he graduated from Midland Lee High School in 1979. The following year, he started his college education at Texas Tech University where he met Laura Frost, the love of his life. After graduation from Tech, they moved back to Midland where they married in 1985. Tim joined his dad in the family furniture business and eventually became the sole owner of Carter’s Furniture.

When he wasn’t with his family or working at the store, you could often find Tim on the tennis or pickleball court cutting up with his friends. He brought so much joy to others with his infectious smile and was always the life of the party and a crowd favorite on the dance floor.

Tim’s calling in life was to serve others. He always found a way to make those around him feel like they were the most important one in the room. Everything with Tim was larger than life, and he never did anything halfway.

Tim was a faithful husband to Laura for 40 years and the world’s greatest dad to Emily and A.J. His latest and favorite role was being “Pop Pop” to his beloved granddaughter, Carter, the light of his life.

Tim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Laura; his adoring daughter, Emily Carter Bloodworth, her husband, Hilton, and their daughter, Carter; his loving son, Austin James (A.J.); his sister, Diane Moore; his brother, Steve Carter; his in-laws, Sharon Frost Willard, Greg and Kari Frost, and Wade and Michelle Frost; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Tim is preceded in death by his parents, James and Eloise Carter; mother and father-in-law, James and Lavelle Frost; and brother-in-law, Al Willard.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and support of our incredible family and friends and Tim’s medical team. We couldn’t have gone through this journey without you.

Honorary pallbearers will be his fun and faithful tennis/pickleball friends; Dave Gilland, Greg Wright, Dennis Johnson, Jon Lanier, David Sparks, Larry Gates, David Hughes, Don Stephens and Rusty Fuller.

I am so sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. He was a truly genuine guy that I went to school with since elementary school at Fannin. I saw him about three or four years ago when I was in Midland. He was still the same nice guy he always was. He will be missed by many. I send my condolences and prayers to his family and friends.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of such a great man! He will be deeply missed. I used to sell furniture to Tim and it was always a joy to visit with he and the rest of his team each time I was there. My deepest condolences to his family and friends! What a wonderful soul and what a blessing to have known him.

Laura, I am just stunned and heavy hearted to have learned of Tim’s passing… and feel terrible that I didn’t even know he was sick. The two of you have been such huge blessings in my life and in the lives of all of us who helped build your home in Granbury. Please let us know if any way we can be of help to you with your home here or otherwise. Jesus shined so brightly through Tim… with all fruits of the Holy Spirit on display. My condolences to the Carter family, May God grant you peace during this difficult time. About 20 years ago I met Tim and Laura at the airport where they and my late wife were waiting on their departure flight. My wife was going to Dallas to be with our daughter who had just received a cancer diagnosis. While visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Carter they told us they would be praying for our daughter. I was very touched by their concern for my family member and have never forgotten it. Thankfully God answered our prayers and my daughter is cancer free.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Carter family. I lived on the same floor of the TTU dorm (Clement Hall) as Tim and Greg Frost. I have many fond memories of our time together there.

So sorry to hear about Tim's passing. I have very fond memories of Tim from growing up in Midland and then at Tech with him. He had a contagious optimism about him. My prayers and best wishes for Laura and her family.

Knowing Tim through working at GrassRoots Imports is one of my life's finest highlights. Tim was the kindest, most genuine person I've ever had the pleasure working with.
