Theresa Anne Goode Stone, 65, of Martindale, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2018. The family will be accepting guests from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 30, 2018, at Nalley-Pickle, & Welch Chapel. Theresa was born November 25, 1952 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Gerry and James Goode. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert Stone, her parents Gerry and James Goode, her sisters Karen Broyles, and her husband Gary Broyles, and Melissa McCabe, and her husband Greg McCabe. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces Greg McCabe, Jr., James Broyles, Josh McCabe, Amanda Fan, and Jenny McCabe.Theresa graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas in 1971. She graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor Arts degree in English Education. Theresa had a passion for English Literature and she taught elementary and high school English in Stanton, Texas, Del Rio, Texas, Florence, Arizona, as well as a community college in Oklahoma. She spread her joy of reading to all of her students. Theresa later attended the University of Arizona and received a Masters of Reading. Upon completion of her Masters, Theresa worked at the Odessa College library before she became the school librarian in Coolidge, Arizona for 24 years. During this time, she continued to introduce young students to the magic of literature. Her monthly library themes were legendary.Upon retirement from the Arizona Public School Systems, Theresa and her husband built their dream home on the San Marcos River in Martindale, Texas. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Theresa served as general contractor and decorator for this passion project. Theresa loved to sit by the river and read her books. Even in retirement, Theresa continued to share her love of books by volunteering at the Martindale Public Library.Theresa “Aunt Seesa” was a loving daughter, sister, wife, and aunt. She was a life-long friend to Robin Neil and Sherilyn Engel. She also loved the many dogs she had throughout her life. Theresa enjoyed reading, teaching, traveling, going to garage sales with her mom, antique stores, collecting, jigsaw puzzles, word games, movies, and floating on the river. Theresa will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Arthritis Foundation or a school or public library of your choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
