Terry Melvin Carter, 80, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, July 12, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 16, 2007 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Phillip McClendon, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Joplin, Missouri, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.He was born on July 7, 1927, in Wichita Falls, Texas and married Dorothy M. Loudamy on November 15, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas. Terry graduated from Valley View High School in 1945 and served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II from 1945 to 1946. He came to Big Spring in 1947 and owned and operated Carter's Furniture from 1948 until retiring in 1995. He was a member of Baptist Temple Church and a member of the Gideons.Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Carter of Big Spring; three brothers and sisters-in-law, John E. and Louise Carter of Grand Prairie, James C. and Elouise Carter of Midland and Donald J. and Wilma Carter of New Port Richey, Florida; 10 nieces and nephews, Harold Kent Simpson and wife, Andrea of Gainesville, Pamela Simpson of Mableton, Georgia, Diane Moore and husband, Harold of Odessa, Steve Carter of Midland, Tim Carter and wife, Laura of Midland, Andi Thompson and husband, Ron of Bedford, Sandi McCoy and husband, Spence of Highland Village, Joe Carter and wife, Nina of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Donnie Carter and wife, Debra of Hudson, Florida and Lisa Gardner and husband, Matt of Evansville, Indiana; several great nieces and nephews and several great great nieces and nephews, He was preceded in death by his parents, J. W. and Gladys Carter and one sister, Mozelle Simpson. The family suggests memorials be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Program, P.O.
