Terry Douglas Meeks, 72 years old, went to his heavenly home on Monday, February 16th. He was the last baby born in Big Spring, December 31st, 1953, to Barbara Woodson Meeks, and Ross Darrow, who raised Terry and his sister Debbie. Terry graduated from Coahoma High School in 1972. He was an all-state football player.

He married Patti Lee on November 22, 1982, and they made their home in Big Spring, Texas. After 20 years in the oil field, where he made many treasured friendships, Terry went back to college and became a certified Radiologic Technologist. He worked for 20 years at the VA Medical Center, before his retirement in December of 2013.

Mr. Meeks is survived by his loving wife, Patti, three children: Amber (Jason) Henry, of Lubbock Texas, Todd (Brittany) Moland, Stephenville, Texas, and Justin (Beth) Meeks, Midland, Texas; grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; Kiersten (Somer) Jackson and their children Kamryn and Wyatt, Jacob (Jolee) Henry, Nethanial (Marisol) Henry and their son Luca, Breanna (Cayden Goodman) Moland, Charly Rae Meeks, Tyler Moland, Sophia B, Hannah and Jake Armstrong; as well as his sister Debbie (Eddie) Minor; sisters-in-laws: Sheri (Ron) Lepard, Jana Lee, and Darlene Battle; brother-in-law Roger Battle; and mother-in-law Myrtie Lee, and several nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Jason Minor, father-in-law D.C. Lee, sister-in-law Karen Halfmann, and brother-in-law Richard Battle.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm with funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel.  Interment will follow at Coahoma Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers: Bill Lewis, Stanley Phillips, Bruce Srtickland, Donnie Buchanan, Casey Carpenter and Terry Denton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Whiskers and Tails Animal Rescue, 5106 Rainbow Rd, Apt A, Midland, TX 79707 or Trinity Baptist Church Missions Program, 1701 E FM 700, Big Spring, TX 79720.

To Terry and his family. Terry was quite the entertainment in humor and demeanor. I worked close by with him at the VA, X-ray department. He was closer to retirement when I came through. I will never forget some of his gestures or words at the time. I never really knew many people here when transplanted in this area in 2009. Otherwise, we visited the Trinity church and was attending that church then. He will be missed but feeling he is in a much better place now- FOR sure! Thanks for the memories Terry and RIP.
