Teri Lisa Rubio was called home to be with the Lord on September 12, 2026, at the age of 62. A devoted mother, a woman of deep faith, and friend to many, she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who loved her deeply.
Teri was born on November 29, 1963, in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, to Gustavo Ochotorena Jr. and the late Gloria Sosa Ochotorena. She graduated from Monterey High School in 1982 in Lubbock. She went on to attend cosmetology school, where her passion for beauty and caring for others found its calling. Her talent and dedication led to a career as a hairdresser and, eventually, to opening her own salon, Expert Cuts, in Midland.
For Teri, cutting hair was about more than helping people look their best. Her chair was a place for stories, laughter, friendship, and meaningful conversation. Her warm and compassionate spirit made her not only a talented hairdresser, but also a trusted friend and confidante to many.
Above all, Teri was a devoted mother. She and Julian Rubio were blessed with two sons, Chris and Jon, who were the light of her life. Being their mother was always at the heart of who she was, and her love, strength, and nurturing spirit will live on through them.
For the past 17 years, Teri shared her life with her beloved companion, Jimmy Paredez. Their years together were filled with love, companionship, and countless memories. Jimmy was a cherished part of Teri’s life and remained by her side through the years, sharing in the joys, challenges, and everyday moments that made their life together special.
Teri was a devout Catholic who regularly attended Mass at San Miguel Arcángel and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Midland, where her faith was central to her life.
Teri also had a special love for her precious fur babies, Brooke, Freeman, Bailey, Gemma, and Romy, who brought her endless comfort, companionship, and joy.
Teri’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, and service to others. She never met a stranger, only a friend she hadn’t yet made. She used to say that she didn’t care if it was her last two dollars in the world; she would give it to someone who needed it more. Her love will live on in the many lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace until the day we are reunited again.
Teri is survived by her companion, Jimmy Paredez; son, Christopher Rubio and wife, Casey Rubio, and their three children, Camden, Lillian, and Noah, of Grand Prairie; son, Jonathan Rubio and Tiffany, and their children, Maddox and Sway, of Coppell; father, Gustavo Ochotorena Jr., of Big Spring; brothers, Gus Ochotorena III of San Antonio, Vince Ochotorena of Irving Gary Ochotorena of Dallas, and Greg Ochotorena and Annie Manivong of Dallas; aunt, Margie Palacios of Big Spring; and many other loving aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Sosa Ochotorena; grandmother, Estella F. Gonzales; step-grandfather, Emilio Gonzales; grandfather, Martin Sosa; grandfather, Gustavo Ochotorena Sr.; grandmother, Elisa G. Ochotorena.
